| BESWICK - BEATRIX POTTER'S " DUCHESS " The figurine is
3-3/4" tall and was made c1950. The figurine depicts "DUCHESS",
the black pomeranian dog from the story "The Pie and the Patty Pan",
carrying a bouquet of flowers. Marks : The figurine is marked with the
BP2 gold back stamp used between 1955 and 1972. The exact mark reads :
BEATRIX POTTER'S DUCHESS BESWICK ENGLAND F.WARNE & Co., LTD
Copyright Condition : The figurine is in excellent condition with no
cracks, damage or repair. |

designed by Colin Melbourne in 1956. It is a fine looking studio piece
and is dramatically fashioned in a retro style and decorated in colours
of lime and sea green. Underneath it has “CM” and the oval “Beswick
England” Backstamp printed and also the model number of 1420
impressed. It measures 4.75” in height and is free from any chips,
cracks, restoration and amazingly, no crazing, most unusual for a piece
of this age – in absolute tip top condition apart from a flaw/flake
on the front edge of the base which has been done during manufacture as
it has been partly glazed over |
