| This is a stunning American Art Deco 10 carat rolled gold gentlemans' watch manufactured by Bulova in the 1940s. It has a classic tonneau Art Deco case and the watch is in excellent overall condition. It is triple signed; on the dial, case and movement. The dial is near mint, having just been expertly restored and the freshly serviced movement is running strongly and keeping time. The watch is also fitted with a new crystal and strap so this watch is ready for immediate use. The tonneau case is in excellent condition and has attractive decorative engraved ends. It has the expected light marks from use but nothing of any significance to highlight. It is made of 10 carat rolled gold with a stainless steel back and measures approximately 37mm from lug to lug and 24mm across excluding the crown. The inside of the rear cover is signed by Bulova and marked "10K Rolled Gold Plate Bezel Stainless Back". The Art Deco Bulova signed dial is in near mint condition having just been expertly restored to look as new. It has an antique white finish. The hours are marked by raised gold tone Arabic numerals and the gold hands are in excellent shape. There is a recessed subsidiary dial just above the six o'clock position. The domed crystal has just been replaced with a correct glass item. The Bulova cal. 10AK American manufactured movement has 17jewels. It is running perfectly and keeping time. | all original, Art Deco Bulova dates to 1945. Fabulous 10k RGP chased case with very unusual tear drop lugs. There is no gold loss at all, not even to the underside of the lugs. Very little in the way of surface scratching, in fact quite remarkable for a 62 year old wrist watch. Stainless steel snap on back, fits properly and is inscription free. With the aid of a loupe it's just possible to see a little ageing to the dial, it really is very minimal and hard to see. Satin silver with applied gold Arabic hour markers, sub second dial at six. Gold hands show a little oxidation when viewed very closely, but very hard to see. Unsigned crown and new mineral glass crystal are the only non original parts. The power unit is a very clean 10BA 17 jewel manual wind movement, it has just been cleaned and oiled, it winds and sets smoothly and keeps excellent time with a good power reserve. Fitted on what is very probably it's original band, a USA made Gemex, gold filled and stainless stretch band. A little gold loss to a few of the high points, but again not easy to see. | vintage 1950 model year (L0 date code) gents Bulova Flip Top Photo watch!! This watch has just been serviced and winds and sets the time smoothly and runs and keeps good time. This watch is in above average condition for this particular model that was a challenging design for wear and durability because of its unique features. The flip top mechanism works very well and opens easily and snaps shut decisively. The case is in pretty nice condition and it looks like the slight gap between the case back and the photo holder has been created by unskilled and ignorant people trying to open the case with a knife at some point in the past. There is one small line of brassing along part of one edge of the case back and some slight brassing on the underneath part of the lugs that is less than you see on most of these. The top side of the bezel has high point wear on the lug tips that is hard to see without magnification. The movement is a Caliber 8AE Bulova that has 17 Jewels and is Adjusted for accuracy.
