| Presented for sale is a stunning 14 carat solid gold gentlemans' Art Deco watch dating to 1955. It is a classic Longines rectangular case design. The case is in very good condition, the newly restored dial is mint and the freshly oiled and adjusted movement is running strongly and keeping time. The watch has been fitted with a new faceted crystal and a new quality leather strap so this watch is ready for immediate use. The watch is triple signed on the dial, case and the movement. The heavy 14 carat solid gold case is in very good condition. It has the expected light marks from use over more than fifty years but nothing to highlight other than a shallow "ring ding" on the back of the case. The outside of the case is marked 14K Gold. On the inside of the cover it is Longines signed and 14k gold hallmarked. The case measures approximately 38mm from lug to lug and 23mm across, excluding the crown. The Longines signed dial is in mint condition, having just been expertly restored to look as new. It has an attractive antique white finish with applied gold Arabic numerals and arrow batons to mark the hours. The dial also bears the Longines winged emblem in applied gold. A recessed subsidiary seconds dial is located just above the 6 o'clock position and the gold Dauphin hands are in great shape. The faceted crystal is clean and clear having just been replaced. The rugged Longines cal. 9LT movement has 17 jewels set in solid gold casings. The 9L and its variants, together with the 23Z are Longines most reliable and rugged units, used in their watches from the 1930's through to the 1950's.
